Sheelwant Patel, pen name P. Sheelwant, was born on 10th September 1952 in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has sold insurance for five years and been forester for thirty-three. He has climbed hills, stalked killer elephants in jungles, and halted in many a haunted house in Himalayas. A docudrama he wrote has won him a national award for the best documentary. He lives in Mumbai with his wife and two amazing kids, now grownup – one an animator and the other, a filmmaker.
The exploration of emotions that entice a character to act, or not to, fascinates Sheelwant. He gets under the skin of his characters and makes you scent the world around you through the sensibilities of the characters. His inspirations bob up from neither gods or goddesses, nor kings or queens, nor Vedas or Puranas, nor, even, Ramayana or Mahabharata, but from the battle of the boy or girl next-door, out on the street, to live life on their own terms.
Come and join him in the journey with his characters. With him, you will find yourself happy and unhappy, saddened and brightened, laughing and wailing, rejoicing and regretting, celebrating characters’ successes, or mourning their dead. It will be a roller-coaster ride, but immensely entertaining; and fiercely fulfilling, emotionally. And, it will underline the eternity of storytelling. Come, get on the entertainment bandwagon.
